K-2 Book sets for reading.
- Currently, only 2 book sets are available for use by 21 classrooms. The purchase of 5 additional
sets of books will be shared among the K, 1st and 2nd grade classrooms.
Fifth Grade Leadership initiatives.
- Our fifth graders are the leaders of the school and the school would like to acknowledge their
hard work. Leadership initiatives may include a school newspaper, special awards, and privileges.
The cost of these initiatives will come from the PTA budget.
New School Piano for music class and school performances.
- The current electric piano has been with Hope Valley Elementary since the new school opened.
We'd like to replace the electric piano with real piano. We hope to buy a used piano with some of
the sales that go on around our universities. If you know of a good piano deal,
let us know.
Cultural arts presentations for each grade level.
- Each year, the PTA provides the funding for the Durham Arts Council or other cultural entity to
bring cultural programs to our students. Typically a grade level will be studying a subject and a
cultural presentation will fit into the are of study. In the past, an African drummer, a Rags-to-Riches
production, and a Native American Chief have all been sponsored for this area.
